When life throws you curve balls

admin • April 13, 2016

Recently I was talking to my friend Lise who is an astrologer/energy healer and she was describing a vision that she had when working with a client.  All of her stresses, obstacles, ideas…were disguised in the form of balls.  They were coming at her from all directions.  These “balls” were constantly creating obstacles for her to proceed…to advance…to really enjoy her life and achieve what she set out to do.  As she was describing her vision, I knew that I needed to create an image that summarizes the thoughts and feelings that I had around this idea.  Life can be stressful and stress can have a variety of causes such as family problems, financial difficulty, poor health…the list goes on and on.  Life is a balancing act and is always changing.  There is no one prescription that works for everyone.  That would be too easy.   Sometimes it seems like our list of things to do, leaves us unglued…..undone…unable to really even see,, let alone do, what  makes us happy/fulfilled.  Sometimes, at least for me, it takes quiet……alone time, to really hear myself think.   To quiet the noise.  The noise that says you should do this, others are doing that….. do this, do that….don’t do this…you need this…she’s doing this, so you should be doing that…..So many “balls”!!!!  How can we possibly hear anything with all that noise?  If we quiet the mind, remove all our “balls” we can actually hear….really hear what we want….what’s important…what we hold sacred.   That’s what we need to focus on.  That’s what it’s all about.  “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change.” Unknown. Looking at all our “balls”, throwing them all out there, sorting through them, and really focusing on the few that mean the most.  Holding those “balls” sacred with our eyes and hearts wide open.

I’m not sure where I found this quote but I have it on the wall above my computer

“There is a voice inside of you that whispers all day long.  I feel that this is right for me, I know that this is wrong.  No teacher, preacher, parent , friend or wise man can decide what’s right for you-just listen to the voice that speaks inside.”

Back to black. Nature inspired me to create some new work. Going back to black to make the colours pop, I worked with an amazing seamstress to create this skirt intended to resemble leaves.
